Rose Wine
Rose wine differs from red wine in that the fermenting juice is kept in contact with the skins for a much shorter time, only a few hours. This allows some color to be extracted, but very little tannin. Many inexpensive wine roses are made by blending a little red wine or fermenting juice with Rose wine. Rosé wines are perhaps the most versatile, food-friendly wines around. Wine Lovers have discovered that many of these pink wines fall into the definitively "dry" category, not sugary sweet, and the vast majority of Rosé wines offer a very good wine value for the money.
